Reasonable Doubt Part 3: False Confessions
False confessions are the subject of the third part in my series about wrongful convictions in America called Reasonable Doubt.
Read essayThis is secular living with a pulse: sweat, appetite, style, thought, beauty, decent lighting, a kitchen that gets wrecked on purpose, and a mind that stays gloriously unbound with bullshit. We write about evidence-based wellness, fitness, culture, sustainable living, philosophy, and how to build a life so honest and fucking good that no sermon, no guru, and no smug little deity could ever compete with it.

Lawrence Kraussâ SignatureI was waiting on posting this one for an article to come out about Mubarakâs situation, but it seems to never have materialized so Iâll post it now. As you know, a while back, we held a contest to raise funds and awareness so we could get Mubarak out of Nigeria. Mubarak is an atheist who was beaten, drugged and detained for saying he doesnât believe in God. We were raising funds to get him out of Nigeria because it was unsafe. Unfortunately, we did not raise quite enoug

Frankieâs eggHappy Friday Unbelievers! I hope all my American readers had a wonderful holiday and are now trying to work of 5000 calories and a hangover. This week, I want you to follow some theists I love. I know, I know, youâre probably thinking you might get preached at or damned to Hell. With these guys though, itâs just not the case. I have always maintained that I donât care if youâre religious, so long as you do not expect your beliefs to trickle into government policy, nor judge others fo

Godless Mom learned to surf in gym class in Australia. We used to hop on a bus and drive out to Trigg Beach or Swanbourne Beach depending on the surf. Weâd get our wetsuits on, lay in the sand and practice popping up on our boards. After a while, our instructor would take us out past the break, where we would mostly sit and wait our turn to ride a wave. Surfing was hard, but it was the best thing about school in Australia by miles and I wouldnât trade the fact that I learned to surf on powdery

I just saw this on Reddit and I absolutely had to share. This man, a former mayor in Ireland, and childhood victim of rape at the hands of catholic priests, lets loose what he really feels. He is trying to make ministers in the Irish conservative party, Fianna Fail, cease the funding that goes to Catholic institutions. This is not easy to watch. You can read more about the continued investigation into these crimes, here:Â http://www.childabusecommission.ie/#abuse

Yesterday, someone on Twitter sent me this : 18 Ways A Wife May Be The Glory Of Her Husband. With a title like that, you know itâs gonna be all Jeebyâd up. So I took a glance, got to point number 3 and thought, Oh hell no, Bible Bimbo. In 18 points, she managed to take women back to 1920 and then blame it on the fruit of Godâs loins.Bitch has some serious self-loathing issues. I am a writer.I may not be the best writer. I may not even be a writer you like. I could be the worst writer youâve ever come acrossâŚI shit the bed at grammar. Sometimes I overlook typos in an eagerness to finish up. I write run-ons and streams of consciousnesses that would horrify any literature professor.I get comments and emails and tweets that tell me I suck. I get called names and am picked apart by all types.Sometimes, I hate my own fucking writing.Sometimes, I read what I posted and crin
