Follow Friday: My Favourite British Mommy, A New Subreddit & A Secret Atheist Club

H-hello? Hi guys… *sheepish grin*. Happy Friday. I know I’ve been posting some depressing shit lately, and I just wanted to apologize. I chose the moving words of Forrest Gump to do this, so as he said, “Sorry I ruined your Black Panther party”. I think that says it all, no? Sometimes we have to talk about the not so pleasant as atheists. Face facts and be grown ups about it. I hope you still love me…

Here are some incredible people and groups I love, and I think you should follow them.

The first is beautiful Deana, who is so much more than just a pretty face. She’s also super intelligent, a great writer and cracks me up on a daily basis. As a member of the close-knit team that worked hard on the #FreeMubarak campaign, she is also completely selfless and a staunch supporter of human rights. I check in with this team, our “Twitter Family” every day, and 9 times out of ten, I walk in on something Deana’s just said that gives me a good belly laugh. Deana is also a Mom, and from the things I’ve learned about her over the past couple of months, she seems to be a great one.

Deana’s blog is called Secular Scarlet and, although fairly new, is already one of my favourite places to go to read great atheist content.

You absolutely must follow Deana on Twitter, @Naradee12, for great humour and awesome debate.

My second recommendation is the newest Atheist subreddit, Atheism Rebooted. Redditors are most likely all aware already of the excessive drama and politics that go on in the main atheism subreddit. This new one was created to be an escape from all that bullshit. So far, it’s working. There are fewer rules for what you can post, and as such, you get a much wider view of the state of atheism than in the original atheism subreddit. It’s full of hilarious memes, personal stories, current events and fantastic debate. It’s a much more relaxed and enjoyable place to be, and I high recommend subbing:

My last suggestion for you, is Atheists Unite. This is a group on Facebook of over 5000 atheists that like to keep things respectful, fun and open-minded. Great memes, articles and debate are all frequently posted and commented on. I’m not a huge fan of Facebook, but this group makes me keep logging in. Go ask to join here: Atheists Unite

Next week, I promise my posts will be back to the fun, regular Godless Mom you all know. If you want to be featured on Follow Friday, or know of someone who should, send me an email: mommy@godlessmom.com
